Tenets, Aims and Structure of PEBBLE

What does PEBBLE do?

PEBBLE was founded primarily to increase awareness and acceptance of the Pagan Traditions in public consciousness, and more specifically, within the British Government. PEBBLE's Partner Organisations are primarily concerned with creating effective and valuable change in Government and institutional policy, and it does this through projects organised both by individuals and by Partner Organisations.

How PEBBLE is organised

The Partners of PEBBLE are Pagan spiritual organisations who have linked with the aim of collaborating and providing resources to their members and to the greater Pagan community. Being a Partner Organisation of PEBBLE gives a group the opportunity to involve itself with the various projects taken up by PEBBLE. In becoming PEBBLE Partners, many different Pagan organisations have networked together to create change in many and varied ways. See the Organisations and Projects pages for more information.

Definition of 'public body'

For the purposes of PEBBLE, a public body is defined as any body funded by the taxpayer, including central or local government, quangos and non-departmental government bodies. Click here for more details.

Diversity and Equality Statement

PEBBLE is committed to a world in which diversity is respected and celebrated and where acceptance of difference, leading to equality of opportunity, is an integral part of our thinking.

Integral to our approach to life is an emphasis on the belief that everyone should be treated in an honest, fair and transparent manner, in which their individual characteristics (sex, gender, age, ethnic status, sexuality, nationality, ability/disability, race, cultural heritage) should be celebrated and not used as a possible means of discrimination.

In terms of religion, whilst we are Pagans, we do not believe that Paganism is the only path, but that it should be left to individuals to find their own true calling (whether this involves a religion, a spiritual path, atheism, agnosticism, or something which they would rather not define). In the spirit of this, we seek to treat all individuals as autonomous and self-defining and celebrate, rather than discriminate against, diversity.
